Doctrine and Covenants 130:18-21

Doctrine and Covenants 130:18-21
18 Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection.
19 An if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.
20 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated-
21 And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.

It’s now time for bigger and better things!

So what’s up everybody?

We have been really busy this week so sorry for not sending this yesterday.  I had most of this email done on Monday but thanks to the electrical company of Ghana they let me down once again.

I am trying to think of what we did this week but as I look back everything just seem to be the same. For being as busy as we were, I can’t think of much to talk about. We have been teaching a lot of new people this week and doing some finding or contacting. When we begin teaching someone we use our missionary skills to find out as much about them as we can in the first few minutes. Like their age, who they live with, are they married, do they have kids, and usually what tribe they come from.  We try to find this stuff out so we can put them in our scale of "seriousness" meaning we want to find out if they are some one who is going to: 1) come to church for 3 weeks and be baptized, 2) take a lot of teaching and convincing before they come to church, 3) or if they will become an eternal investigator who really like having the missionaries over but really have no intention of leaving their church. Then after we decide on this with the help of the spirit we can make the choice of which path to take and how fast we teach them the gospel. We have been doing a lot of that this week and for the most part we have been working with 2's and 3's but we did find some really legit 1's which we are really pumped to work with.

In Ghana New Years is bigger then Christmas for most part so this week was pretty crazy with people preparing for the New Year. For our New Year we caught some fireworks and had some sparkling apple juice and enjoyed small. People were blasting music and blowing things up all night and way into the morning so we didn’t get much sleep. We mainly just sat up and watched the fire works and everything else that was going on.

I can’t believe that it is 2012 already! It’s hard to imagine that this is the year that I will leave my home to go home. Ghana has become my home and a big part of my life.  I have come to love this country and its people.  I know when that day comes it will be difficult to leave my people and my home.

I hope that you all had a great New Year. It’s now time for bigger and better things! I am working on my goals for this up coming year and I plan on making sure that I accomplish them.  I have found that setting goals is a good thing.  It helps me to stay focused and motivated when I get discouraged or when I feel tired or weak and I just want to give up.   That’s when I review the goals that I have set and then I can see again the direction that I want to go and I find myself saying to myself “Brady, there is no way your going to be a quitter no matter how bad you want to give up” and somehow I find the inner strength and the motivation to keep on going even though sometimes I feel like I have collapsed and fallen flat on my face.  Remember brothers that we do hard things, and we do them well. Shoot for the stars!

Act in all things like everything depends on you personally, pray as if it all depends on the Lord!

I hope everyone has a good week and a great beginning to the New Year!

I love you all
