Doctrine and Covenants 130:18-21

Doctrine and Covenants 130:18-21
18 Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection.
19 An if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.
20 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated-
21 And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.

Nothing better than brothers doing what’s right and doing it TOGETHER!

I love my life and my family and all you who support me.

This week was crazy and really unfortunate for Elder Wing in his second week. Ha-ha!  I will explain more in a minute.

So the best part of the week was on Saturday. We had a baptism which was Elder Wing’s first one.  But of course this is Ghana and when we got to the church someone had forgot to fill the font so we were rushing around trying to find the hose and stuff to get the font filled fast. Luckily for us we got to the church early so we had time to get the font filled just before the baptism started which was (Ghana standard time of 30 minutes late).  So by the time the ward members showed up everything was good and we were able to baptize Brother Ebenezer Addo, and Brother Manu Alfread. It was special because both of them are member referrals and we don’t get many referrals from members. But the ones that we do get most of the time they end up being members of the church because they already have friends, and it’s easy to feel the truth though your fiends.  Especially when your friends are influencing you to do good. Edenzer's older brother Jonathan got to baptize him and confirm him this weekend. Nothing better than brothers doing what’s right and doing it TOGETHER!  Kind of made me think of me and my stud brothers, there really is nothing like doing good together. I miss you guys and can’t wait to do stuff together again, but the time will come.

So this week we have had lights off since Elder Wing got here. Ha-ha!  Like every night we haven’t had electricity.  I can’t even image what he is going through. I was so blessed to have lights during the first part of my mission, but now I can sleep without the fan going all the time, but the kid is a champ and he is doing well with it. For the most part our water has been on but there were a few days we didn’t have any water. I guess that’s AKWAABA to him. On Thursday Elder Wing went to pull some money out of the ATM and the machine took his card... Ha-ha! Then they told us that we have to go to Accra to pick it up. So today we went there and they were like telling us that it wouldn’t be possible for him to get it, but that they would be sending it to his bank. I have been here long enough to know that all they really wanted was a bride or something, so I made a few phone calls and talked to some lady.  I had to get a little upset at her and then things got done. It’s too bad that fear has to come before some people will do what’s right.  Yes, I was like “if you don’t give his card back to him I’m going to take your cell phone away.” Kind of like how mom used to motivate me to get things done “Brady if you don’t clean your room I’m going to take your cell phone away" Mom I’m sorry that it took fear of losing my cell phone in order to motivate me.  Anyway all is well and we got his card back.

On Friday we went to get Elder Wings hair cut and the lights went off right in the middle of it so they turn on the generator and the barber came back in and continued but with the wrong cutters and with the wrong guard, so now my companion is a complete skin head. Ha-ha! So he has had a pretty rough week but he is still going strong and we are keeping our heads in the game!

I am like pretty much done training him; he has experienced almost all there is to experience here in Ghana in just two weeks.  It has been fun training Elder Wing. I  was very lucky to get him for a companion.  The kid is a stud and he loves to work and is good with the people already.

This week we got a live chicken, so what else is there to do with it but eat it? Ha-ha!  This isn’t as bad as the cat story but we did kill a chicken and made a nice stew and cooked it. We ate it yesterday and it was a BOMB!  (It was really good!)

We are still working with this girl named Ester and her family! Ah, every time we go there they feed us even when we tell them that we don’t want to eat because we are full. They are really good people, but they are really stubborn. They would rather just feed us so we can’t talk and teach them about the church. Ha-ha!

Well I feel like a lot more happened this week than what I wrote about, but everything is going well.  I am in good health but I think I have sprained both of my wrists (its like hurting to type this letter! Ha-ha!) Ghana is sweet, I love it so much but time is going by way too fast! Well I got to go to work its crunch time.

Love Elder Nana Kofi Bbear
